In the classical Indian view, Yoga is a path to Moksha (liberation, enlightenment), which is the fourth of the four aims of life. The other three aims are Dharma (virtue and honourableness), Artha (worldly success) and Kama (enjoyment). Furthermore, Yoga is one of a number of complementary paths to Moksha. Classically, the other paths (darshana) are Nyaya, Vaisheshika, Samkhya, Mimamsa and Vedanta. Additionally, there is Tantra, and Buddha’s Teaching which also aims at a complete awakening. • Pankaj Seth
