The sublimation of the ego is an abstract, mechanical term referring to the experience of a profound humbling of the ego, including the profound humbling of thought and reason. How does this humbling occur? There are many ways, each unique to a given individual's experience. Through some experience/insight, one can come to accept that though there will never be any objective description of reality, one can still easily know how to live one's life in a beautiful/just way. A description of reality clothed in thought cannot ever be complete because thought being only a part of the whole simply cannot contain the whole. We are free to envision self and world, and we are free to place either competition or cooperation as the overarching value.  •  Pankaj Seth
